The wedding of Caitrina and Uilliam will take place at one of our Barony's biggest events, the Sergeant, Yeoman, Gallant and Courtier Trials.

Each August our Barony holds a series of trials designed to test applicants in skills such as heraldry, games, inspection of armour and weapons, dancing, and other bardic pursuits. Each candidate is also tested on a specific skill appropriate to the rank sought; Sergeants are tested in the heavy combat feild, Yeoman are tested through light combat (missle weapons and archery), Gallants are rapier fighters (fencers), while Courtiers are the diplomats, and are tested on their negotiating skills.

We can't be terribly specific about the timing just yet, as it depends on a number of factors. However, sometime Saturday evening ... around dinner time ... there will be a potluck dinner for our friends and family (see below for more details). The ceremony will take place on Sunday, somewhere between 11:00am and noon.

All of our friends and family are invited to come out all weekend to see what it is we do for recreation. We can show you around, introduce you to all our other friends and family, and you get to be a witness (or participant) to the warmth and excitement that is the SCA.

The one thing you're asked to do at one of our events, is to make an attempt at medieval garb, or clothing. You don't have to go full out (Al...), researching and spending a lot of time and money (Al...), or kitting yourself out with swords and gear (Al...). We do however ask that you wear something. We both have a few things available still to borrow for the event, and I do know a great number of you (besides Al) are interested in making your garb. We can help with that too, if you want. And finally, there is an office within our group called "Gold Key", whose job it is to provide newcomers with "garb-for-the-day", so that nobody's walking around in weird clothes.

Wedding Feast

In the evening of Saturday the 19th, we will be holding a traditional wedding feast. In a true medieval fashion, all guests are asked not to bring gifts for the couple, but instead to bring food for the feast. This is traditional in our persona's time and culture, and simply a better idea all around.

Bringing food to a medieval potluck can be as simple as a couple of Safeway roast chickens or some whole loaves of bread with butter and cheese, to finding a medieval recipe and attempting to create something authenic. If you're at a complete loss, contact either of us, and we'll help you out.
